Some Thoughts

I really started keeping a blog to keep family up to date on the kids and pictures and I have fallen waaaay behind in that lately related to our computer completely dying and other various parts of life that have occupied my energies. I did have a few random thoughts that I wanted to put down, though. One is that I need to enjoy my kids more and to see them more for their potential rather than the runny nosed, continually energetic bundles that they are. I see some children that are so subdued and I am grateful to have active, questioning, interactive children. However, I do know that all things must be kept in balance and that they do need to be reigned in. I was watching a show on Discovery Health about a girl who was born with her legs completely fused together and as a result didn't even have any anatomy in the personal areas and is called a living mermaid. She was amazing and the story struck a cord with me. She was so happy and found joy in every moment. I instantly loved her. Her mom said that she sometimes questioned her choice to have Shiloh as she felt it was selfish because Shiloh would never lead a normal life, but how wrong she was. Shiloh will never lead a normal life, it is true, but what a joy and inspiration she was and how she uplifted everyone around her. The Lord does truly put the best spirits in those bodies. I also happened upon some old pictures of high school days. It was funny to think about those days of youth and how my body image was. I always found my flaws and was discouraged, but reviewing that made me think how silly and such time wasted on such nonsense. We need to enjoy what we have and the blessings of each moment. At least for today, I am going to choose to laugh and giggle a little more with my children which are truly my blessings!
